One of the handiest tools my wife has.

Were you being sarcastic or does really have one or " want "one ? Either way it made me laugh.

She (WE) actually has two single wheeled ones that she uses quite often. I push it around when we mix cement though.

One we got from her dad 40 years ago and another one we got ten years later. She hauls mulch, firewood splits as I split and throw it in the wheelbarrow, garden stuff and whenever I am not around with the tractor.

I have had a good quality plastic tub one wheeler for about 27 years. I used it to mix concrete, haul dirt and sod, compost, rocks, water, mulch etc.....
I tried a friends 2 wheeler but didn't like it for side hills. If the ground is uneven, the load is shifted side to side. The wife even used it to haul clothes baskets to the line...then I bought her a cart.

Two

One with a "flat bed and head board" for moving fuel wood. the other has a plastic tray that serves for mixing small batches of mortar or concrete and hauling garden related materials.

I have several but they pretty well only get used when I mix concrete.

I had been talking about buying a small tractor for over a year because I ruptured 3 disks in my back (and they discovered more evil damage) and just could not dig out from the snow with a shovel anymore.
I took a picture into work the day after the little BX followed me home to show the guys. One guy I had worked with several places looked at me quite seriously and said "Hey George, Can I have it?". I looked at him like he's crazy and said "No Steve, You cannot have my new tractor". Oh, says he, I know I can't have your tractor, I want your wheelbarrow, you'll never use that thing again!!!! Got a good laugh all around. However:

I still use the wheelbarrow, especially in the winter. I'll load it up with firewood and take it near the basement steps. About all I want to move in a day and I normally would not start the tractor for that small a task. The one remaining is an all metal old Army one and I've had it at least 20 years.

the number here is six. I remember growing up the Ames blue contractor wheelbarrows back in the sixties. Stout. big handles and heavy thick steel tray. When I bought my first wheelbarrow that is what I bought. I kept the handles oiled with linseed and turpentine mixture. I've gone through a couple tires and finally put a puncture proof one on it. I went through the original tray and a replacement because of the manure I used it for.

I found a discarded big poly tray and mounted that and it has lasted and lasted. We're talking over forty years total. I keep the handles right and the bearings greased, too. In addition I have five others, my dad's AMES of the same era and four other wanna bee home owner wheelbarrows that are all old USA made. Some have lifetime tires and some don't.

You would be surprised at the urbanites who shipcan a wheelbarrow because of a flat or broken brace or handle. I have picked em up and bred them to make good ones out of them. Around my place they are real handy especially if I can put a work party together of youngun's now and then. If you are going to haul manure with one day in and day out. get a poly tray. Otherwise go steel. Git a good one with bigger tire and wheel, big heavier handles and it will always be up to the task.

I have one. I should use it more often for exercise instead of the FEL loader. I have the single wheel solid tire (no air).

Lots of folks saying they only use them for concrete. I use my loader bucket to transport it and I have a cheapie Harbor freight mixer I bought 7 years ago. We have mixed over 25 pallets of 80lb bags with that little jewel. We poured 38 bags today on some fencing and hope to do about 50 tomorrow. I hate concrete.

bdog, somehow you have managed a charmed life! No wheelbarrels? Wow. Either you hired others, used paint buckets (I doubt it) or graduated to a tractor with an FEL and bucket before your time. In any case, you must be doing something right! :D
