Once the work is over for the day (Miller time?) I will have a beer, but I really prefer to take a shower, put on clean clothes, and relax with a beer
Did I fail to mention that operating a grill or smoker is exempt from my rules.
I'm with you and the Dougster. It's not a pleasure trying to drink a beer bouncing around on a tractor. Besides on my slopes you have to give it your undivided attention. Once work is through for the day, nothing better than a cold beer, sitting on the deck puffing on a cigar and looking at what I've achieved. Aaaaggghhh heaven.
I also agree that you can't possibly cook outdoors without the tongs in one hand and a beer in the other. Anything else would be UNAMERICAN.

I used to drink all the time, everyday, starting whenever time in the morning I felt like. With that being said, running my tractor didn't slow me down either, whether cutting hay, baling, working with the loader. I've did some pretty crazy thing with the tractor while I was drunk, and I wonder why or how it is that I never been hurt. We gave some hay to one of our friends once, and they said that I must have bailed it because there was empty beer cans smashed in the bales. I thought it was pretty funny back then, but now I think it was pretty sick. It took a lot of time also, worrying about where to put the cooler so I could have quick access to it, and getting more beer when I went to get gas. I'm a lot better now, I haven't drank in over a year, I think back to that crazy time in my life and wonder why.

I'm with alot on here that I find if I do take a cold one TO the tractor. Only to start working and find an hour later it is hot, and flat. I guess I get to engrossed with the "tractoring" that the drinking just doesn't happen. Plus it is way to bouncy to try.

I won't drink while trying to drive a tractor, that's alcohol abuse. You could hit a bump and spill your beer!

Never during, never after. I've done too many dumb things stone sober to want to tilt my chances, even a little.
Non drinker now but used to drink 8 or 10 nights a week quite a few years ago. I keep frozen bottles of water in the freezer, the diff lock keeps them captive. I have no problem with what others do, keeping up with me is a full time job.

Steve, I guess you know it's almost traditional for drunk drivers to tell officers that they've had 2 beers, when they've actually had a lot more. Now of course, some say that any amount of alcohol impairs some functions. However, some 25 or 30 years ago, some studies found that the guy who actually has had 2 beers is probably the safest driver on the road. The theory being that he hasn't had enough to impair reaction time, but is aware of the fact that he should be extra careful because he's drinking. So I'll leave everyone to their own opinion.
