i've found that when you have galvanizing, even the stuff half inch from an arc turns green and peels or turns white. If I have to weld zinc coated stuff.. I try to grind or sand the stuff off at least an inch away from where the puddle will be... that and welding in the fresh air.. etc Mind you i'm no 'welder', havn't played on on tv. Have stayed in a HIE but it wasn't last night. I'd say i own a welder, but I think it's the 'wrong' brand to say that I do.. so.. take my advice for what it's worth..
