Do I Need a SnowBlower?

Sorry you folks in the rest of the country are getting something other than winter as it seems to be all here in this part of Washington state up by the Canadian border. We've had four big blizzards so far and each has had very high winds creating drifting snow and sub-zero temps. I am not sorry in the least for putting on the chains as you can see and it was well worth the time and money for the block and hydro heaters. Crazzzzzzy Weather! Never have seen anything like this here or anywhere else for that matter.

Sorry you folks in the rest of the country are having something other than winter as it seems to have all fallen here in the great northwest ( right on the Canadian border). We have had four big blizzards each with very high winds, drifting snow and sub-zero temps. I am not sorry in the least bit for taking the time and effort to install my chains on all four not to mention the block and hydro heaters brand new this past fall. Crazzzzzzzy Weather I say!

If you bought a snow blower now how would you go pick it up??? Definitely looks like you need to blow that snow outta there to make some room. Nice pics and pretty views...

What happens to the "global warming" over Washington state?

Are you west side or east? Im pretty familiar w/ the Lynden/Custer area and I thought they had real winters every yr.

"jimg" From your avatar it looks like your a crew chief on an armored vehicle, either a tank or personnel carrier. I was a crew chief of an Amtrac in the Marines in Vietnam and other than those crazy camo's they issue nowadays, the scenery inside the hatch looks a bit familiar. Am I right? And Yes, the last two or three years, the storms here in central Washington state (Okanogan County) have been getting progressively worse each and every year. Some Global Warming I'd say, but I sure don't know what is happening to the rest of the country!

Those pictures make me wish I lived closer. I would have a ball snowblowing all that snow. Once you see the snow flying 20-30 feet in the air and 20 feet or so outwards and once you see the final product of a clean driveway, you'll never go back. Get the snowblower, you'll love it. I bet your time clearing the driveway will be cut in half.

:D That's a pic of my son in a humvee somewhere in Iraq. :D His MOS is infantry. At the moment he's home on leave and will be going back very shortly. It was a good picture of him so I use it as often as possible. Hes on my computer desktop at work and home. :) We're really proud of him and I miss him a good deal. My youngest (middle school age) has been threatening since grade school to enlist in the Marines when he's done w/ HS. We'll see how that works out. :)

Yes, the ACUs are pretty interesting. I guess there's more to hide from these days.

So youre on the east side then. Ive been thru Omak, Winthrop and over to Coulee (dam etc.). I think Douglas is also in your co isnt it? I really like Douglas...very neat little town!! Its really pretty country w/ some *huge* wheat fields. I didnt know you all got so much snow though. From the pics you posted a blower certainly should be on your short list. It must have taken quite some time to dig out w/ just the loader. BTW theyre getting more than normal snow fall on the west side too. Oh, I SO glad I moved east when I did. We've been having temps mostly in the 50s & 60s with a good few days into the 70s. :D Sorry, just couldnt pass up the gloating. ;)

BTW have you been over to the Lynden/Custer area? Thats west side right on the Canadian border. In all of WA its my favorite place.

I would suggest turning the rear blade around and clear in reverse -- its much quicker, even in deep snow, just an extra pass or two.

That is some beautiful scenery for sure.

A blower will dramatically improve the speed at which you can clear your driveway.

Good if you've got other things to do

Bad if you enjoy arctic seat time

My first season of plowing was fun, after the second 10' season I was ready for the blower... Of course we haven't had any appreciable snowfall this year yet (although it is finally cold enough this week).
