Do I need a Low Profile Plow?

Considering on buying a single bottom moldboard plow for my MF 1523. I was debating on a standard size vs. low profile(used on sub-CUTs). 1523 is a small framed CUT, equal in size to JD 2320(4110),NH TC26(TC24), and Kubota 7610. It seems like the standard size 1 x 14" would work, but I'd like to know if anybody out there with these size models, has any experience with plowing? Are "Low Profile" 1 x 14"'s primarily for sub-CUTs?

Haven't heard of a low profile plow. Sounds like low profile results. My guess is that it doesn't plow deeply. If it only plows a few inches deep, I would just use a tiller. A "real plow" should go 6-8" or more. I think you have the hp for a real plow. A tiller can get down 6-8" and more with a few passes and probably cover the area in the same amount of time as a single bottom plow. A plow will leave the surface uneven and rough unless the ground is mellow. If you have rocks, tiller may not work well but plow will also have issues.

Real plows come in 12, 14, and 16 inch sizes commonly, with 1, 2, 3 or many m ore bottoms. You can probably easily pull a normal 1 x 12" or 14" plow, maybe a 2 x 12 if your soil isn't real heavy. There are a couple of threads somewhere in here recently about plowing -- read those to see what's going on.

This "low profile" plow I've seen is built exactly like a standard size, except the hitch points are lower to the ground. Its overall height is shorter, but the frame thickness and the plow(bottom) are the same. I've seen them with 12" and 14" bottoms and I think the Leinbach Line makes one. I just wanted to make sure my small-framed CUT was tall enough to transport and plow correctly with a standard sized plow, since its stance isn't as tall as the Utility tractors I grew up with.
