Late to the party, but that was a fantastic purchase. def38's suggestion to use poly barrels is a great idea. I may try that for our discs at hunt camp. None of us can weld but I could make up a 2x4 frame and bolt it or ratchet strap it to the disc frame.

At our hunt camp we have been rototilling and last year tried discs on a couple of sites...worked OK. I am experimenting with no-till for the food plots on my property as I do not have either a disc or tiller.

If you can wait late enough until you have had a good frost and then no-till it works better, when your food plot seed has to compete with established native grass, the grass always wins, the other option is a good herbicide to kill the native grass and weeds about 3 to 4 weeks prior to no-tilling in your food plot seed.

Proper discing is an art. Just as proper moldboard plowing.

There are many disc varieties. Just as there are many intended purposes.

You stole this disc. Very good purchase!!!

You should occasionally check your individual disks for looseness if they get loose tighten up the nut on the long axle that holds the rack together.

This disc is awesome. Actually found another one a little heavier than this one from my hay guy. Going to sell this one to my buddy for what I got it for and get the other one. PXL_20201030_122855914.jpegPXL_20201030_123004980.jpegPXL_20201030_144711268.jpeg

That's a great choice, the ones pictured above look to have sealed bearings... Less maintenance and less work to change them out if needed..
And already comes with a chunk of railroad iron.
That's a no brainier there .
