Oil & Fuel diesel wont start

JaybirdT,

I am not sure if I missed something or not but is your tractor running yet? If it is what do you attribute this problem to? If not what have you done to try and correct this? Just please let us know the suspense is killing me. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

i am sure a block heater is kinder to the engine, but a lot of times when i need the tractor i don't have 2 hours to wait, i just start it up and let it warm REALLY good then go at it.

I install a block heater in my 2710 when I bought it for just that reason. Recently we have had temps in the 0 to -20 range. I usually run the extension cord to it before the snow is expected to come down, then in the morning I am ready to go and plug the outlet end into the house and let it (and myself) warm up for a couple hours /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Then I dont even have to use the glow plugs sometimes. It has to be extremely hard on the bearings when the tractor engine starts spinning and the oil is like jello. The oil pump can't possible be pumping for the first few seconds, and having to make the starter push the crankshaft lobes though the jelled oil is extra wear and tear. Sure it can do it, but this is the first and probably only NEW tractor I will have, and if I have the heater, it makes sense to use it to ease the stress caused by this type of extreme cold.
