Diesel fueling system for CUT owners

The only thing you should have is a releif valve if there is a problem with air supply or in a fire you will have a bomb with out it.

There is no need for a RV cuz the tank is not stored under pressure. The
biggest reason I don't store under pressure is I don't want Diesel dripping
out of the nozzle. My commercial-grade nozzle seals very well; better
than I thought it would however.

Also, my fill port is hand tightened only and I actually want any residual
pressure in the tank to bleed off. It does.

As for being a 'bomb' in a fire... the sight line hose would melt thus releasing any pressure.

The tank bottom was interesting. It had two drain plugs, both of
brass with lead centers. The strange metalurgy must be to arrest any
electrolysis inside the tank. This tank dates back to 1929, according to
the earliest pressure test stamp on top.

This photo shows the bottom, along with some gussets I made from some
scrap tubing. These will support 3 casters.

The "drain plugs" are the thermal safety valves.

If the tank gets hot, say in a fire, the lead melts releasing the propane preventing (normally) the tank from exploding.

1 * That's not bad here it's 100 to 150 Gal Min. for delivery but 2 of the 3 suppliers will top off my 30 or 55 gallon drums when they are already delivering in my neighborhood or just passing by my place.
2*All 3 distributors here will fill my 30 or 55 gallon drums when I take them in to them.
Why won't your suppliers do that for you there in your area?
3*I would have done that a long time ago cause I'll be D if I'd be buying On Road when I had a big tank of tax free fuel setting at home.

Fuel here was spotted at $4.29 last night.

A Shell station in a crappy part of town is proud of their diesel...$4.599 a gallon as of yesterday.

What is off road diesel?

The same as on road diesel except it's not used on the road is dyed red and isn't taxed.

Makes sense. I was hoping someone would comment on that. There
were 4 of these lead-filled plugs, 2 on the top, 2 on the bottom. One
was steel; the rest were brass.

Anyway, thx for the kudos, guys. (Diesel just hit $5.05/gal!)

The station I mentioned in yesterday's post had diesel at $4.859 a gallon today.
