I might of asked before but I will again

like let's say this one Predator

are they all they say or am I looking to scew up my truck?
anyone running a tuner?

If your going to run one I would go for a Banks.I know they seem conservative but are well engineered.A 6.0 can be a ticking time bomb.They have a high failure rate on headgaskets.For more info try www.thedieselstop.com

I had a freind of mine who went to Banks school were they compared their product to others and he said it was very impressive of what went into them.It may be easier to deal with a local rep.I do know some that are running some Edge products and are very happy.

The Diesel Stop

I will avoid bloviating (I'm a Cummins fan), just read the Ford Diesel websites and learn what you can. There are write-ups on all the different "boxes" and tuners.

At work we have a few 2004 f250 diesels. The bos got superchips tuners for them. The will do tow-safe, economy, and power.

The power setting does 'feel' stronger, and changes the shift points.. lowers fuel economy alot.. The tow safe 'seems' to do nothing except lower fuel milage. Economy also LOWERS fuel milage.. go figure.. I've had to switch all the trucks back to factory tuneing.. and that IMPROVED fuel economy over any of the superchips programming...

Oh well.. at least the superchips units can be used as code scanners...

Thanks everyone....i think for now I will not risk it. I feel if something went wrong with the truck ford would blame the tuner no matter what it was

I run an Edge Juice w/ Attitude monitor. Went to a Unifoam air filter and now need to change the exhaust. 20 k miles and no problems at all, except the tires wear out quicker. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The #2 setting is good for towing, and the #5 setting is scary fast and will chirp in 1st and 2nd. The monitor is sweet. Allows you to change settings on the fly, and monitor boost pressure, EGT, and many other parameters.

I think you are smart for not risking the aftermarket tuner on the 6.0 L Ford. Those engines and their development and manufacture have been one of the most trying experiences for FoMoCo. Ford has taken a strong stance about aftermarket mods in general and especially with their new engines. Rest assured, no matter what happens, the tuner would be blamed for any occurence. I have a 7.3L Power Stroke with the Banks Power Pack and Big Hoss chip. Prior to this, I was using the same truck with an 80 hp chip and aftermarket exhaust from another manufacturer. The Banks system seems about the same around town and in low speed acceleration, but on the highway and pulling, feels twice as strong as the other on my 7.3L. The other advantage to Banks is that they offer systems, which actually add to the longevity of the truck. If you do decide to do something with your truck, to me, Banks is the way to go. It is more expensive and involved, but the results are far better. My F250 will out-peform any diesel truck in my county without significantly stressing the engine to do so. Also, I like the stainless exhaust and well-made componetry. Hopefully, this is helpful.
