Deutz diff lock

I used the diff lock on my 1979 Deutz D8006 last week to get out of a wet field and then could not disengage it, it took a fair bit of pushing down on the pedal to engage it as its the first time i used it. I have hammered the pedal back up, split the brakes, rocked forward an back but to no avail. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

I'd check for rust at all the joints from the pedal on down... Spray all of them with a penetrate like PB Blaster and see if that doesn't help. You may have to spray them several times over several days...
