I am in the market for a small tractor and have came across an 89' Deutz Allis 5230. The tractor doesnt have any leaks, fires right up, doesnt smoke, has some paint scrapes and minor rust due to the owner not having a shed to keep it under. Everything works and shifts smooth. He also has a 5' bushhog and 5' blade that he is throwing in. He is asking $3500 but said he could come down. I am thinking of offering around $3200 but I dont know anything about these tractors. Does the price sound reasonable and are they fairly reliable. Thanks.

Check the tractor over does everything work?
will the brakes choke the tractor off in high gear or does the clutch slip?
Does it smoke when cold?

Everything is working. I went ahead and bought it. I offered $3200 and he took it. Seems like a pretty strong tractor for its size. I am still trying to find as much info as I can on this model but I am pretty happy with the purchase. Ill have to get some pics posted.
