Deutz Agroplus hard start

I have a Deutz Agro plus 87 2003 model with 3900 hours on it. When cold it is very hard to start.The glow plug light does come on but does not seem to stay on for very long. Engine has plenty of power, does not use oil or smoke and does start well when warm.

Does anyone have any sugestions? How long should the glow plugs stay on and what is the best way to check them? All filter have been changed regulary. And off road or highway fuel perform the same.

Just because the glow plug light is glowing doesn't mean the glow plugs are working. Most of the lights are on timer relays. Check each glow plug on top of the head to see if they have power, If so, then the glow plugs themselves must be checked. Their is a resistance value for each one. You can also pull each one and check with 12 volts to see if they get warm. Do this quick as they will burn out easy. trac
