Desk Gear Drive Lubrication

I have the 54 inch shaft driven mowing deck. The deck has a gearbox to transmit the power from the driveshaft to the belt drive pulley. There is no mention in the literature about the lubrication of the gearbox. It looks like it may have a plug to fill and/or check the oil (if that's what it uses) level. Does anyone know if this could be a problem?
