I'm new to the forum, so howdy everyone!

Getting ready to take delivery on a new JD 3520 to replace my recently sold 790. I'm in a heated argument with the dealer about the forward and rear lighting kits. He's arguing that I can't install the forward kit (2 lights) and the two rear kits (one light each) on my tractor. Makes no sense to me at all. I've researched these forums and found that several have been faced with this dilema. The dealer is just not willing to listen, so I think it will be up to me. I have a few questions that remain unanswered - maybe someone knows for sure how to resolve. First - given a 3520 open station tractor with eHydro, will the stock 40A alternator handle all 4 auxilliary lights? Second, will the wiring harnesses that come with the kits handle the required current? Third - why can't I just run the power for each set to a MIA10204 deere light switch in my fender console? That way, when the headlights are on, I could have independent control of each set. Why is this apparently rocket science to the dealer? If the alternator can handle it, it should be a piece o' cake. Others have talked about relays, but I see no reason for one in this application. Thoughts? Please hurry 'cause they are setting up my new green machine starting tomorrow morning. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TBN:D

First, you alternator will handle 4 lights just fine.

I think you should use a relay-that way you create a dedicated circuit from the battery and not use the factory wiring that is usually barely adequate for a lot of extra lighting.

Adding the switch's to the console is a no-brainer...do it!

HERE is a link to my light thread, and below is a good schematic for adding a relay circuit.

Thanks for the info. I do see the benefit of the relay from an isolation standpoint. Will let me expand in the future if I choose as well. Why does Deere make it so difficult to add something that should be a standard option!?!

Will do!

Any ideas on the best place on a 3520 to mount a box for the relay and wiring terminals?

I am not intimately familiar with the newer mid-framed tractors so I can be of no help there. I found room for mine on the "firewall" below the fuse panel.
