Stay away from the JD x series garden tractors or any other garden tractor for that matter.

At what point in time did you change your mind about "garden tractors"? I've read several threads you started asking about this very thing and wanting to know if the price was right.

1*At the Sub compact price point is the time to move away from a garden tractor on up to a sub compact.

{Stay away from the JD x series garden tractors or any other garden tractor for that matter.} was just to reinforce / reinterate Jimingas advice to jammer
Had nothing to do with my position / view on Garden tractors as a whole or in general.

I'm just starting to shop around. So far there are Kubotas and New Hollands in the local rental fleet. I can't seem to find a Deere available for rent or a lengthy demo. Not yet anyway. Just starting out here.
I sure would not rely on anything from a rental yard as a dependable measure of a tractor.

If you were going to buy a new ford car would yopu go to HERTZ or would you try out a new one at the FORD dealer?

My Kubota dealer don't even stock the G and GR series because he says the BX1850 is a much better tractor for about the same or less money.

You know what Les, I'm glad you don't own a JD. You are one angry, argumentative person and I for one am glad to not have you on this side of the forum on a regular basis.

And it's "My dealer DOESN'T even stock......"

Now that you've learned how to 'color' every other word you might want to get a book on grammar.

Unfortunately, this was not a Consumer Reports test. If it were, there'd be a legitimate gripe with the testing methodology. Unfair to Big Orange or not, we all make decisions based on our perceptions. After all, perception is reality in a lot of Cases (Oh, Deere.........Sorry, I just remembered, this isn't an IH forum).

I see much worse grammar on this board all the time but I don't stoop so low as to rudely correct them publicly on the forum as you just did to me.
BTW I haven't noticed you doing it to anyone else making such errors.

Mr. Brown, I'm sorry the Deere dealer don't like you and will not sell you a green machine. I know how bad you want one. JC

LBrown,

I do not know why you are arguing and making yourself look arrogant and unhelpful. The original poster was posting his own thoughts on a JD GT that his neighbour had used to till up his yard. He had tried to do it with a BX15 and had been less than pleased with the results.

This may be because of a difference in HP, or that it was not a fair test, but I do not think that this matters.

He posted this in the right forum, where it is perfectly acceptable to say how well a tracor has performed.

If it has helped his decision making process of buying a new machine, then that is a good thing.

I don't think you are helping him make his decision though.

I can see why he likes the JD more: it has a lot more luxury in the operating department, more power and probably makes the BX look like a lesser machine.

But, it is a lot more expensive as you have pointed out.

I don't know why you think this, it seems a perfectly good way of getting a good trial out of a tractor as long as it is in good condition.
