forgot to add... If you use IE6.. etc.. you can disable macromedia, and then the animated logo becomes a static logo.. and is much faster.. very close to 'normal'.

I did not mean to offend anyone, and I said so upfront.

"... I am not trying to offend anyone; this is just the fact of access for a significant percentage of all users, not just TBN members."

TBN is hosted on a cable connection ?!?! Your traceroute leads back to rackspace?

'We', as in Hakim, Ibrahim and Muhammad access TBN via a cable connection, not that TBN is hosted on a cable connection.

Messick,

We have posted many times in various places on TBN that we host with Rackspace, which is based in Texas. We use multiple server configurations to handle the large loads, and from time to time these are configured in places other than Texas.

We do not provide details of nor discuss our internal Internet configurations, for security reasons.

At the moment I live near San Diego. I do in fact access via cable modem service supplied by Adelphia network.

Because of our personal and business obligations, I and other staff members of TBN access the Internet from many places -- California, Arizona, New York, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere.

Same problem with both the Deere AND the NH advert. Shouldn't be there. Shouldn't allow pictures in the posts either, just as attachments.

Download Firefox 1.5 and the extensions Adblock and Flashblock. Then you can zap those pesky flash ads or any other ad. I made a special bookmark on the tool bar just for TBN. With 2 clicks I can open all my favorite categories in seperate window tabs. Saves me a lot of time.

I LIKE all the ads - even the colors I don't have. I am stumped that anyone is having so much trouble with them.

I am curious as to YOUR connection methods to the internet Mike?

When I am at home, I rarely visit TBN due to the lack of a reliable high speed connection. In the middle of the land of high tech, I can only get broadband speeds via EVDO.... sometimes.

Since I travel with a laptop, and visit many places where connection speed type is not an issue, I really don't like to reconfigure my browers just because of some ad.

So, unfortunate, but while at home, I just have to avoid certain sites, sometimes.

Just curious...

Why would you want Flash movies enabled regardless of connection speed?

Attached is what I see (highlighted in red) in Firefox with FlashBlock installed. If I want to see the Flash movie, I simply click on the 'f'. Nine times out of ten, I don't want to see it.

Great. But I am restrained by policy from running Firefox or any other browser on the laptop. Some of us have restrictions placed on our machines that will limit functionality and user experience. Even if we could change, those changes will be expunged dependant on where we are. Or, even worse, a change detection routine will alert and remedy your behavior accordingly.

If I had to use someone else's laptop that had restrictions, I'd buy my own laptop for my own surfing, otherwise, I'd just have to put up with what I get.

I feel bad for anyone who can't get a good speed on TBN, I don't suffer that problem most of the time. This morning, eveything is responding rather slowly, but I would assume that Ibrahim is maybe doing some tweaks, and that's not a big deal, it'll be better later.

Can you not temporarily go 'manage apps' and just turn off flash plawer for the surfing session, and then re-enable it? Windows does not need to be restarted... it's just a toggle option under IE browser.

Just FYI,

As of last week, the Deere campaign no longer runs the java animation. It should be showing just a static banner. It now loads maybe 1/5 of the resources as before.

There is routine server maintenance that runs via automated scripts overnight. If you come into TBN right when that is going on, you could experience significant slowdowns. But that usually lasts a short time.

Also there was some major work done on the multiple servers and databases that run TBN. I don't have all of the details, but in a word, things were "optimized."

I personally find far less hesitation on page loads. Things have improved for me, and they weren't so bad to start with. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good! Now all those guys will be so happy they will click the banner to show that Deere isn't wasting money supporting our favorite site. Probably want to buy a nice green tractor, too! Or not...

Actually perhaps you should add an advertising 'surcharge' to Deere for that campaign.

I believe there is a saying in advertising that to be talked about no matter how bad is better than saying nothing.

Certainly the 'humping tractor' recieved a lot of attention.

And yes I loaded noticeably faster.
