Everyone, I am looking at buying a used 2011 Prestige 4WD, model # 2690735. The seller had the dealer put the 46" deck on the machine ( the old Murray deck from after Briggs bought Murray).

I'm getting conflicting information from local dealers about the availability of everything from a bagger for the 46" deck to the availability of a complete true Simplicity 50" deck that I can buy as a "plug and play" replacement for the 46.

Does anyone have any definative information (perhaps even a model #) of a 50" deck that will work with this model Prestige.

Thanks in advance.

Get the exact model number and go to the simplicity website and download a manual. Then go to Partstree and search that model number. It will give you a starting point for all the decks that fit your model of tractor. I have and older model that the Prestige replaced and the 54" deck I have is great. It is not a fabricated deck but it is very heavy duty. As for baggers that gets complicated. The bags and the rack that holds them are common, but some of the hard ware that mounts on the tractor is model specific. Again, look at Partstree and I believe you can figure it out.

I actually did do that. There were 3 decks listed, a 44, 46 (with the model # that is on the machine now) and the 50. When I call dealers with the model # for the 50 deck the answer that I get is " there's nothing available" or " you'll have to buy a shell and build a deck from scratch".

I just get the sense that dealers just don't want to get involved. I find it hard to believe that, unlike Deere, Simplicity doesn't offer complete replacement decks or, even if the # I gave them is no longer produced, that there isn't a 50" deck that would fit right up (there are many 50" model numbers shown on parts websites with the electric motor on them). Simplicity couldnt have that many different versions out there, as it wouldn't have been economically feasible to make a multitude of versions unique to each model #.

They still make a 50" deck for the 2017 machine and the machine hasn't changed from the 2011 model except for the seat, hood design, engine, etc.The frame hasn't changed so I'm guessing that would fit.

One dealer says he can get a deck for $1100 and that he could also "put together" a bagger for the 46. A second dealer says he called Simplicity and that they said there is no way to put together a bagger for a 46. So, I just don't know who's right or wrong and what to believe.

If you get a good deal on the Prestige I would buy it. That is a very good tractor. You can use the 46" deck while you look for one on craigslist. You can get one for $500-750 if you are patient. Same for the bagger, just have to have the part numbers that you need at hand.

Any quick-hitch deck will work.Remove the quick-hitch,then attach it to the 4WD front bracket.I had one with a 54 and put a 44 under it from a Broadmoor and it worked fine. The 54 is a very good deck IMHO.The tractor, however ,has some shortcomings.

Locknut: interesting post. Dealers tell me that there could be interference with power steering cylinder, hoses, etc.and that Electric lift decks may not match if the deck isn't "matched" to the machine.

Funny how dealers say no way but you did it and it works, especially since you used Broadmoor deck.. was it manual height adjustment with the crank?

Yes,manual crank. For fun,I put the 54 deck under the Broadmoor and it worked ok,but it's taller and the deck would hit the undercarriage of the tractor on uneven ground.I prefer the manual crank decks. The motorized ones are too slow for me and they only work half the time. And,if the motor stops working, you'll have a helluva time getting the deck off and back on.I like the 50 deck manual as it only weighs 136 lbs, cuts good.easy off-on,and it stands on its tail for easy cleaning and blade changes.
