Who puts out a decent rotary cutter that's heavy duty for less than $3500? I've been looking at TRI, Titan, Big Bee and a few others.

Did you get a quote on the TRI? I like their 8’ HD model but haven’t shopped around yet.

I consider the Brown 600 series rotary cutters to be heavy duty. The Brown 684 is a very capable heavy duty cutter - will cut trees up to 4" - has a 145 hp gearbox - - lists for $8285.

The Brown 410 series rotary cutters are medium duty. The Brown 418 will cut trees up to 2"- has a 130 hp gearbox and lists for $5455.

Honestly - you will not find a rotary cutter that is considered to be heavy duty - in any width - that lists for $3500 or less.

My recommendation would be the Rhino 272 or the 284 slightly higher.

How much clearance can you get under the deck? I have a stream with a hardened crossing that divides my property. Being able to clear that creek has been my main concern with a towable cutter opposed to a 3pt.

In this photo, it is resting on the transport stop. It will go up another 5 inches or so.
