Tractor
Mahindra 2555 HST CAB
Less than 5 months into owning my first tractor, a Mahindra, so help me set some expectations with my dealer please.

I have a 2555 HST CAB that I bought around June/July of this year. After roughly 2 months (if that), I noticed a throttle issue whereas I couldn't get up to full PTO engage speed. It was clear that the cable was not being fully engaged as when I physically moved the cable with my hand (LH drivers side of the tractor), it got up to full speed.

E-Mailed my dealer and he said he would pick it up in a couple of days. I was without my tractor for a week or so.

I'm having the same issue again and also noticed that my PTO oil level is almost out (noticed because it was leaking).

E-mailed my dealer last Thursday and no response. I e-mailed him again today & he responds with:

I am booked up on service and repairs it will be at least three week before I can get a look at it
Thanks Todd

3 weeks? Is that reasonable? So what do I do in the meantime?

Is the tractor usable in its current state? If not, you need to insist that they take care of you sooner.

If it is usable, or something that you can rectify yourself, I would continue to use the tractor until it can be brought in for service. I am assuming that your hydraulic oil reservoir is low - is this what you mean by PTO oil? If I am not mistaken, this is the same oil that is used for all the hydraulic functions, including your transmission. I would have the dealer give you extra oil at their cost, if they refuse to fix the leak for that period of time.

The throttle cable is typically a very easy adjustment, it's possible that it's just slipping underneath the screw to which it attaches at the engine.

Can you ascertain the location of the hydraulic oil leak?

As jb1390 stated. The dealer should supply you with oil till they get the problem fixed. You may need to remind them bigger problems could result from delays.

Sounds like the dealer could do more to help you! I have the exact same tractor and my tranny also leaked from new. My dealer is a large dealership and they were very good to me about fixing mine. Not sure if the size of dealership has any significance on the level of service. Can you tell where the leak comes from? My tractor was leaking at the rear axle housings where they bolt to the tranny. It was a huge job to fix and took several hours of labor. Could the scope of the work be a deterrent to a smaller dealership?

Good luck!
