Damaged in shipping

   / Damaged in shipping #12
Right you are. Back when I was selling Exercise Equipment it was sometimes difficult to train store receiving personnel. Every once on awhile they would refuse to accept a delivery because there was apparent damage. That was dumb since a rejected load goes back to the original shipper and the return freight is charged to the store that rejected it.

They made money if they accepted the load and made a claim against the shipper's insurance for the damage. Then I made arrangements to have the equipment repaired, at our expense, and I gave them mark down money so they could reduce the price of the repaired item and not lose any profit. It was a win for the store and for the customer that got a good unit at a reduced price.

The store got their profit and got to pocket the insurance claim as well.
