D2300 - good deal?

I have found a D2300 2wd with loader locally. The guy is asking $5800. From my research, it appears to be a rare model. Does this sound like a good deal? Will I be disappointed with the 2-cyl. engine? It's rated at 27 hp. Will it pull a 5 ft. bush hog, or should I stick to 4 ft.? Also, are there any common problems I should check for? Thanks for any advice!

While the tractor model number may not be found too often, it is far from rare. The following models are virtually identical: Satoh S-630, ST2001, ST2300 and Mitsubishi D2000 II. Also similar but not identical are the ST2000 and D2000. The 2 cylinder engine was rated in the U S literature as 25 hp. It does not run as smoothly as a 3 or 4 cylinder model but it is a tough old motor. This tractor was built between 1976 and 1981. Parts are currently available and I don't forsee a problem anytime soon. We can provide parts and manuals. My own feeling is you'd be better off with a 4 ft bush hog but it will pull the 5.
