muddstoper you are right about the guard, I was just using a friends 4.5 without guard and I was using my globes the globes are big for my small hands and it start to smell like crap when i look at my globe the disk rub the globe. That really scare the **** out of me. glad I was wearing my globes.
Those cheapo grinders are crap than one have a little play on the bearing or something it was shaking so bad at idle that my hand got sleepy. I will never say a bad thing about my 7" Hitachi G18SS that runs super super smooth.

Why would they stop making the "WIDOW-MAKER" That Black and Decker I am sure it was badass.

I think that is the model I have, it is definitely a handful but makes quick work of grinding off welds.
