Cutting on my BRAND NEW Tractor

I got my brand new, bright, shiny JD 5045D yesterday. It sure is "purty." I know that it won't look that way for long, but I want to keep this one indoors. The spot I have for it involves a standard height, probably a little less than 7 feet, overhead door.

The ROPS can easily fold over to clear the door, but the exhaust stack is too tall. The stack has a turn out rather than a rain cap. As much as I hate to cut my brand new exhaust stack I think I'm going to cut it with an exhaust cutter so there will be no chips down the stack and then put a rain cap in place.

I've never bought a brand new tractor before, so this is traumatic to start cutting on a brand new machine. I suppose it's worth it to keep it out of the weather.

Can you remove the pipe where it attaches to the muffler lower down, cut it there and Drop it a few inches, leaving the turn/bend at the top ?

My exhaust pipe is like that, lucky for me, my garage door is 9' high, so no need to cut it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look at the bottom and see how it's made. Although a tractor is more about function than form, I don't want to make it look bad, at least while it's brand new.

My alternative is to keep my 64 Ford Galaxie 500 in the shop with a low door and keep the tractor in the "new" shop. The "new" shop is an old hay barn that I converted to a shop when I stopped baling square bales. It has 13 1/2 foot doors. The Galaxie is so long that I'm not sure it will fit in the other shop.

Take the factory exhaust off, and straight pipe it with a chrome stack?

Is it tough lining up on the stack shaped hole in the wall as you drive in? Or did you cut out the whole cab?

There is a factory low exhaust kit. I think it exits in front of the floorboard... saw one on a 5055E. Looked good...
