I use whatever the hardware store has in the plumbing section that is marked as "Cutting Oil". It's cheap and readily available.

Same here.

try uni-bit for the holes much faster and cleaner you can get a set of 3 at HF for 15.00 or less i think the set goes to 3/4 " for the bigger hole you can get one that will go to 1" at lowes or HD i drill holes all the time with mine. I tap8/32,12/24 and 1/4/20 ever day and use Door-Ease from NAPA it works beter than any taping fluid i have tried, but only the NAPA brand works.

I use "Moly Dee" for drilling and tapping pre-hardened tool steels and general dark cutting oil for the rest. I like to use air instead of oils when I can, or a spray mist. It's much cleaner and I'm set up for it. For Aluminum drilling and tapping I use either A-9 or Rapid-Tap. For grinding, sawing and submergeable milling I use soluble oil such as ValCool. For milling aluminum I use kerosene or a spray of WD-40. For grinding aluminum or non ferrous metals I use wax or grease.
