Curved steering rod on CK30?

It's probably closer to nothing else than humorous reading.

Although walking around today I found where I must have bent the rod. A 5" sapling, very neat. As a last msg about this I will post the picture so someone else can bend their rod if they wish. Hmmm did I have to say that?

Well I walked around and found where I bent the steering rod within a short time after the tractor was delivered! I was just playing around, pushing this tree with the bucket and ran over it. Didn't notice anything at the time!

I take this as a valuable lesson. The underneath of the tractor has a lot of valuable stuff that can be damaged, and heretofore I will remember that and be for careful.

Be particularly careful when going over stumps, etc. as the transmission filter hangs down pretty far and can be broken off.
Were I to buy a CK30, I think I would weld in a protective frame around that filter.

Yes, that'll work. Looks as though what you've done with the belly pan is to place it so that it's just in front of, and protecting, the filter. Great idea.

John, it covers from the engine oil pan back past the filter. I didn't want to tear the filter off, then figure out I needed protection. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I guess I can't quite picture it if the filter is inside the pan because it doesn't look like the pan could accommodate that long filter. You say it goes PAST the filter, so it has to be completely covered right? How do you get all that filter in that shallow pan?

Now that's it!
I see now that the whole thing hangs lower than I thought it was. Great protection. I suppose you made it easy to take off for maintenance? That's great protection for sure.

Hot dog, love the skidplate, here's a picture of the naked underbelly.

The plate could be extended to the front and curved up and attached to the frame to make a full belly pan. This would protect that low slung tie rod too.
