Cultipacker design question.

/ Cultipacker design question. #21
The last cultipacker I built I used a 12in dia piece of steel pipe. I wrapped reed bar, spaced on 2in centers around the pipe, and welded in place. I capped the pipe and used 4bolt flange bearings to hold the 1 1/2inch coldrolled steel shaft. I mounted the packer behind a singleset of disc harrows and mounted a drop spreader seed box between the harrows and the cultipacker. I could disc the soil, drop the seed, and cultipack in one pass. Never had a problem with shaft bending and the cultipacker worked very well for planting grass seed. I scraped it when I got out of the grass planting business
