Cub SLT 1550 Engine Question

I have a CC SLT 1550 with 38 hours on it. It has the 25 HP Kohler Courage 2 cylinder engine. This happens very often - after having used the machine earlier in the day, or when restarting it not long after shutting it off, when I go to start it, this is what it does...

When I turn the key to crank it, it'll turn over a few times and then BAM! it stops cold as it there's too much compression for it to turn over. Then I can turn the key again and it'll start up, usually with a puff of white smoke. Occasionally the white smoke is pretty heavy and smells of engine oil burning.

Any ideas on why this happens? Has it happened to you?

Time to return it to your dealer; have him repair it.

Check to be sure your oil level isn't too high. It sounds like it is purging oil from the breather up in to the air intake. -Fordlords-
