I would like to sharpen the blade on my CC1046. I have 30 hours on it and feel like I'm due.

1. Do I need to remove the deck to sharpen the blades, or can I raise the deck enough to remove them?

2. Can I use a standard wrench and some elbow grease, or should I use an air wrench?

3. Is a bench grinder satisfactory for sharpening, or should I use a file as others have suggested?

4. Any other tips on sharpening the blades?

Thank you!

1. i just raise the deck to remove them. 2. i use a standard wrench or socket to remove. and a torq wrench to put back on. 3. i find a angle grinder dose the job very well.

hope this helps
I take the deck off to sharpen blades at times, other times I jack up mower and take blades off. Use socket & rachet to remove & torque wrench to install. Use bench grinder or angle grinder depending on mood of the day.

I torque the nuts on the blades on my 2544 to 100 ft/lbs. Manual call for 90 to 110 ft/lbs.
Also tighten nuts on other mowers to 100 ft/lbs.
