creosote logs

Do any of you use these in your wood stoves?

Last year (first with new wood stove) I built up some creosote toward the end of the burning season. I burned one of the logs and it seemed to help a bit, enough to get me through the end of the season. In looking at the burning instructions, they suggest burning one at the start of the season and another around the mid-way point for best results. Do any of you burn them in this manner? Do they seem effective?

I have used the powder form with, what I perceive, as good results. ??

I still half to go up and clear the screen at the top of the chimney about once a year but the build up in the SS pipe usually falls down when the pipe is taped on at the bottom.
