Tractor decking - White Oak vs. Pressure Treated

/ Tractor decking - White Oak vs. Pressure Treated #41
I might have missed it, what is the best home brew to spray or roll on a trailer deck ? Does it matter what type of boards are on the deck, or does one mixture work for all the different types of boards ?
Nothing. Almost any deck sealant is going to make it slick when wet, and cause things (and you) to slide around more than desirable.

Use a rot-resistant wood like PT or white oak, and just replace the boards when they do eventually rot.

I use used "hydraulic" oil and diesel mix 50/50.

I put the trailer in the sun, let it get HOT and then mop it on wet. The wood sucks it right in and in a few days it's mostly not slippery anymore.

I will NOT use, used motor oil!! It's waaay to toxic.

I'm hoping mine does the same, as we're getting into warm weather. I used a transparent deck stain, which is basically just boiled linseed oil, thinking it'd soak in and be less slippery than most other semitransparent options. But it was November when I finally finished the trailer rebuild and decking, just as temperatures were really dropping, so it never soaked in as intended.

The sad thing is, I knew better, but I tried anyway.

I've done the whole unintentional disco split on a slick trailer at least once in my life, and remember taking a header out of an icy truck bed another time... and not looking forward to repeating either.

Oh, and there was one wipe-out a year ago, mossy wet rotting PT decking, that really deserved to have been caught on camera, but alas...

What's most amusting about this post is that it's almost a year old, and I just noticed it's titled "tractor decking". Obviously I meant to name the thread "trailer decking", but must have experienced some sort of Freudian slip.
