Creek got me again

Heh, don't give it a second thought. I bet most everyone here has been stuck at one time or another. I know I have! I just try not to do the same thing twice.... :)

True, there are two type of tractor owners..... Those have gotten stuck an those who lie about getting stuck.

The only tractors that do not get stuck are the ones sitting in a garage with the doors pulled down.

never been stuck but numerous times the FEL has been used to get out of the goo...this was way back in the days when it would actually rain on occasion.

That is a little precarious angle on the first photo.
But, use the hydraulics on your bucket to either crawl forward, or push yourself backward.

CliffordK-that was attempted and got me straighter than I was in this picture but thy soil in front if the loader was as soupy as the muck I was stuck in.

This was the first time in 160hours I had the sense to say it is stuck enough that I am going to get a tug.

Every other time it was in that creek 'immobilized' the backhoe was always able to push, pull or swing me out. Like I said I knew it deep down when I went in without the backhoe I would get hung up.

It put a smile on my wife's face and she got to say you owe me. 30 years ago it was my mom who would have been shaking her head!! Back then it was a 12hp Lowes that was an hour hold. Boy was she mad at me. Said she can't have anything nice and then "you wait until your father gets home". I still laugh about that one. Boy i drove that woman crazy That time I couldn't find the brake.

My creek got me too. I had to get a neighbor with a different color tractor to pull me out.

Was stuck on weekend with the B3200 but shooting Video's for a how too on using the bucket to get out. New bucket with teeth are great at getting unstuck, unfortuneatly I, like the OP did not pick a place with a bottom. Thats why I also like my Massey, it is my tow truck. Fortuneatly DW was with me so she worked the go pedal on the B3200 while I worked the Massey. If I had been alone it would have required mounting the Winch on my pickup and thats a back breaker.

And I just now recalled 'jumping' the 1811 Cub Cadet in the same creek about 4 years ago while trying to cut through the center of a swing set. When the swing came back I managed to push the hydro full forward and roll off the back at the same time. It landed right in front of the clean out of the big pipe that serves as my bridge. Used a Honda 680 Rincon to get that one out. I never told the wife about that one until last year.

I seem to recall wanting to pipe the entire creek at one point or another. My reasoning was always aesthetics, maybe it should just be for safety!?!?

I know one of these days my sons will be cutting the grass. I believe at that point I will trade to a BX25; shouldn't need the ground clearance once all the creek work is done.

Oh, did you have to bring that up? :(

Reminded me of the time I high centered the M4700 and had to meet the neighbor for the first time to pull me off...twice within a hour! I was trying to clear some dirt piles the previous owner had left hidden in high weeds.

I had forgotten about that until you mentioned the "twice" thing!

I live on a hillside. Bought acres, had dozer clear some trees into a big pile (on hillside) to burn later. Bought a BX2200 MMM FEL. Continued to push the edge and beyond of its limits when I discovered it was a Sub compact TRACTOR and not just a high priced lifetime mower with a high priced wheelbarrow on the front.
Decided the pile of trees and branches covered to big of an area and needed to be a smaller pile. Started pushing it all around the edges. From the bottom, from each side and it was much easier pushing downhill from the top. Oh bye the way, never took MMM off since it was a mower that happened to be becoming a tractor.:D Welllll, I was so successful pushing that pile into a smaller taller pile that I got very aggressive pushing from the easier top down side that some way I got on top of that pile of trees, rocks, limbs and branches. The MMM became a real thorn in my flesh because it just sort of locked into the "pile" and FEL would raise my front up and down but wouldn't push me in any direction. After quite some time of running out fuel and trying every thing I thought possible I finally decided I'd have to get my chainsaw and maybe in a month or two be able to get that SUB COMPACT TRACTOR off/out of that pile. Turned it off and went into the house. Pondered a couple of days and the man that had been doing dozer work came back to get his dozer. I told him to go get my SUB COMPACT TRACTOR off the pile for me. With a grin he did.  :ashamed: :cool2:

John, the precise reason I decided to go with the B over the BX at the last minute. I knew it would only be a matter of time before I was high centered on something.

Thanks for the story!

When I was a young whipper-snapper... I decided to dig to China in the yard/driveway. My mom was peeved... "wait till your father gets home". He did come home after work... as it was getting dark, and backed into the hole slightly! On man I go it! So the next day I filled in the hole and about a month later the driveway was paved. Mom was still peeved... but Dad was somewhat happy that winter when he(or rather me) could shovel the snow off the driveway faster!

Got stuck like you with my tractor - 1st year. I had the back hoe on but it was too sloppy to pull the tractor out or use the loader to bush back-wards. In the end I extended the Back hoe out horizontally, put it in low, 1st gear, and watched it slowly crawl out. I took it back to the house washed it down and considered it a day.

I don't worry too much about the internet bullies. They are usually lashing out because they they can...

Regarding the stuck tractor, I would expect the conversation in person or on the phone would be pleasant and fully understandable. Sometimes trying to type the story is not as easy. I seriously doubt that it was funny at the time, but we all look back and laugh at ourselves (at least the ones of us that are mentally healthy) for something that we did...

If you haven't figured it out yet; I don't see events like this as FUNNY !
or a learning opportunity.

As I tell my kids, EVERYTHING is a learning opportunity!

Reg, Give us all a break. You sound like your the only one in the tractor world that has never done anything wrong and learned from it. Makes you better than everyone in your own mind. The name calling makes you, well, you. Dang easy to speak down to people on the internet. Me personally, I got a chuckle out of the story. It happens. No one harmed, no equipment damaged. And I actually understood exactly what he meant in his post. You on the other hand, pretended it was his fault you misunderstood it. Get a life.

Constructive criticism, instructions, tips, and ways to help out are always welcomed.

These kinds of things always look far more stupid in hindsight, than they seemed when one was actually heading towards the creek, bog, slope, whatever. Is that a road 50 yards away?

The important thing is knowing when to stop and go get help. And, that everyone was ok.

BTW:
I had a nylon tow strap break on me in the past. I'd never use anything other than chain or cable for towing a vehicle now. Ropes & straps are still good for many things, but use steel for towing.
