Good Afternoon Eddie,
That shelter is awesome ! If you flipped that thing over it could double as Noah's ark ! ;):)

All kidding aside, very neat job and idea ! :)

It will probably look as good as anything you build, but here is what I envisioned for the upper deck.

But, that is just me.

I thought I was the only one doing stuff like that
had raccoons under my deck(low deck maybe 18-24" off the ground) and in the morning when I would hit the hot tub before work sometimes they would stick there heads out to watch me in my birthday suit:cool2:
so I thought why not take my pellet gun out there and see if I could head shot em
got 2 of them in 3 days and the rest went ahead and moved on

No deck or hot tub in this location. I have been thinking that I might want to build a nice dock out on the water one of these days, but's its so far down on my to do list that it's not even on the radar. Here is a deck that I just built for a client out at Lake Palestine, a 26,000 acre lake close to Tyler.

Deck looks great Eddie. My son in NC has a high deck and wants me to put in steps one day. I may copy your look. How wide are these steps?

The steps are 36 inches wide. I like that because there isn't any waste with 12 foot boards and I have plenty of strength with three stringers. It is a personal peeve of mine to see only two stringers on a set of stairs. That third one in the middle takes away all the bounce and they last a lot longer!!!

On this job, the clients wanted to have as much of a view of the lake as possible and for the stairs to be out of the way. Getting them to double back and have enough head room under the deck proved to be my biggest challenge.

The three day weekend was spent working on decking. That onion dome turned out to be very time consuming!!!!! Then Monday afternoon, with strong storms on the radar heading my way, I decided to put the paper on before the fascia boards and trim around the dormers. With two layers of OSB, my fear is that there might be some major moisture issues once the water got between them.
