Crazy idea for haybine rollers??

I just bought a haybine, new holland 479, the conditioner rollers are in great shape just really dry, my idea is to have the rollers coated in a rubberized spray on bed liner. There is about 3/8" gap between the chevrons so them hitting shouldn't be a problem.

Am I thinking to far out of the box?

It should work ---bed liner is s'posed to be tuff so it's worth a try.

I use spray on bed liner for lots of projects. I would say do it. You have nothing to lose.

I suggest you reinstall the front push bar to secure the reel drive side to the more study (driveline) side. The sickle action will strain the metal and welded fixtures in the pan area and it will self destruct otherwise. I made a better one out of well pipe with angle braces etc. Still detachable but a necessary reinforcement.
