Cracked hydraulic case

/ Cracked hydraulic case #21
I'm having a little trouble telling exactly where the crack is. It appears that the second photo is rotated 90 degrees?

If the crack is on the main transmission case and not on the final drive assembly that your 3pt actually attaches to then I would rule out operator error.

The drawbar is the only thing hooked to the main case and unless you tie down your tractor hard with the drawbar then I can't see how this is anything except a casting flaw.

Me, too. The only operator error I can think of for this kind of damage
would be a high speed run into an immovable object.

More pix, please!

The dealer came and picked it up on Friday. He didn't say "It's covered under warranty" but I got that impression. I also didn't have to sign anything like when you drop your car off at a mechanic and authorize service.

He didn't say when I would get it back and I didn't want to push.

Before he took it he snapped a few pictures of my implements. He said Kioti asked him to do that. Smart.

He sounds like a real good dealer and people reading this should keep him in mind when looking for gear .

I think the crack may have been caused by core shift , it is common with sand casting . The sand mold can be a little too close to the outer mold in a spot which results in a thin spot in the cast iron .

Very interesting post. I hope the warranty does indeed cover it. Please let us know.

All is well. The dealer delivered it last night and my only charge was $130 for fluids and filters. On the invoice the transmission case housing was listed for $1306. He said that the inside of the housing looked like the outside - just a hairline crack.

What a good guy. He owns Hartill's Mountain Saw and Tractor in Chewelah WA (NE WA).

That is a good ending. Glad it was just a casting stress fracture that was covered.

George, good to hear. I'm over in Idaho and bought my tractor in Rathdrum but the dealer is no longer in business. I had a back window shatter on the cab and have ordered it from Harthill's. Kioti doesn't have a good reputation for there parts supply and shipping. I had a manufacture defect part, bypass hyd. line, take three months to deliver. Paul did follow through with window order and has a ship date for me, hope they stick to it.
