A new project for the Massey. Looked at many diy weights, came up with a compact version. Short history. A few years ago, I was involved in the lead wheel weight frenzy. With all the do-gooders frowning on lead, pressuring governments to ban them and go to steel, I salvaged and melted down about 800 lbs for future bullet casting. So with all that sitting idle, cast into one pound ingots, might as well put it to use. One cubic ft of lead is just over seven hundred lbs. My ammo can has more than enough volume to get a substantial weight in a small package. Made to work with the quick hitch.

When I did SCUBA we'd cast our own 5 lb belt weights from old lead pipe that we'd find at yard sales etc.
My stock of belt weights mow get added to tractor ballast.
My compact main weight is a 300 lb cast iron elevator weight. (it is narrower than my rear wheels and about 5" high X 10" deep and is slung from the 3 point arms, also serves as hitch for trailers)
LOL, combined with studded rear chains I NEVER get stuck! (but sure can dig a deep rut if not careful)

Don't ask for pics as presently the weight is under 3 ft of snow since the blower has not seen the last of winter quite yet.

Didn't have any wheel weights so went with concrete... Frame made of old angle iron bed rails and some 10 gauge steel sheet... 8 - 60lb of quick mix bagged concrete... Found out old rattle can caps fit 2 inch ABS pipes (tool holders) really well to keep crap out of pipes...

I lied, looked at my stash, found a couple hundred lbs not yet processed. Weighed the good stuff. Another get round to it job.

I am going to make one out of concrete soon but you have a good idea.

I really like how compact yours is and still be very heavy.

I have about 800 lbs of used sheet lead.
Would like to find an easy way of melting it, and what to use for a casting mold....5 or 10 lbs each

A good use for sheet lead is making EMP proof containers...you never know...!
