They work hand in hand. Some of us like to reminisce because by tomorrow you might be in ICU on a vent. Look at Boris Johnson. One minute he is "in the hospital for some test", then "in good spirits", and the next thing you know he is in ICU with a tube shoved in him. It all can happen so fast.

Yeah and he has a baby on the way.

I wonder why going to work is so much more dangerous than going to the grocery store, the gas station or to the cellphone store? We ban people going to work, even if they promise to social distance or only 1 person works there, but we can go to the grocery story. No one keeps count of how many times we go. Also some communities are ticketing people for being out unless they can prove they need "essential services". How do you prove to a policeman you need food? or fuel? or a new cellphone? Just wondering.

Petaluma mostly, correct?
American Graffiti was filmed in Petaluma but only because Howard's home town Modesto over in the Central Valley, had changed too much and no longer displayed the culture he wanted to illustrate. I grew up in another Valley town which Modesto is a clone of. In fact expeditions up and down the valley to cruise in the alternatives and maybe challenge a race there, weren't unusual.

I recall one night we were out on a wide, nicely paved rural road similar to where the Graffiti race/crash was filmed (I think that was filmed at Patterson) and some guy from out of town with a built 58 Chevy, presumably a 348, was insistent that I race him for pink slips. Oh H-- no. My 37 Chev coupe (found a stock photo) with a small-block 265 built to mostly Corvette specs (Duntov cam!) was light and quick but no thanks. Howard's autobiographical movie exactly matches my memories of growing up in the pre-VN era. Seeing that movie, filmed years later, was amazing.

Anyhow lets get back on topic. :)

Coming back from the store a receipt will show time and location. Going to a store tell the officer your home address and the store you are going to and be prepared to prove to him the direct route.

Ran into town today ... first time I've been out in quite a while.

Looked to be a good bit of traffic out closer to the house, less so in town ... more than I expected in both cases though.

Mail man stuck the neighbor's electric bill in our box by mistake so I ran that over to him after I took the garbage up to the street and spent probably 15 minutes or so talking to him (from 20' away) He was laid off last week ... he's in the trades and a lot of business they had booked has canceled apparently. Figures he'll be probably "on call" and be filling in "as needed" ... told him to give me a holler if he needs anything and he said the same.

On the way back another neighbor was out mowing and he flagged me down to jaw jack (again from 20' away) ... he's still working but having having trouble getting some of the dummies he works with to maintain their distance.

Not much to report from FORTRESS TASMANIA this morning (Tuesday, 7 Apr. @ 1027). All's quiet, although the death toll for the entire country has risen to 45. All of those who have succumbed have been elderly or had previous conditions. 60 to 90's range.

We're being cautious... life carries on.

Well if others can talk about penny candy we can talk about street racing. San Fernando Valley is where I grew up. First fast car was a 1958 Corvette with the 283 hp 283. Not fast enough. Traded it for a 1968 Camaro with Corvette 427 engine. That was seriously fast. We used to race with just a glance at the other car.

We're getting good grocery delivery service from Smart & Final. (Shipt is who actually arrives at your door). I see there's a S&F in Oakland @ 42nd Ave near Home Depot.

Also Amazon is doing great. I suddenly appreciate Prime, which was free with five Metro-PCS phone lines. It's like Christmas, several packages arrive each week.

We just set up an account with Instacart after some confusion. We learned we need to order from Instacart and then they shop at a store which we had thought has direct delivery. Instacart's online process works well.

We haven't been out shopping since March 16 when the Bay Area shutdown started.

Wife's mom called and needed more groceries tonight. I just went for her over the weekend. She wanted one sweet potato, a ham for Easter, a box of cereal, some stuffing mix, and a can of soup.

So I suited up, mask and gloves, doubled everything she wanted today, and duplicated everything we got her over the weekend, and I did a duplicate order for us as well so hopefully I won't have to go back for several weeks.

Store had no TP, paper towels, liquid hand soap, disinfectant, wipes, hot dog or hamburger buns, many brands of bread were out, canned whip cream, half the flavors of yogurt are out, several brands of cooking oil out, caffein free pops were slim. The did have plenty of meats and chicken.

I've noticed it's taking longer to restock.. looks like supply chain slowing down.

Now with end of May target that means 7 more weeks.

My Barber had already said he will not reopen and similar for my Dentist.

The office staffs of the Cardiac Rehab, Podiatrist, etc have all been told to file for unemployment..

You could not have made this up 6 weeks ago...

Home Depot was doing that up here but I have not seen it at the grocery store.
