Corn Head grease in gearbox

/ Corn Head grease in gearbox #11
Yep TSC calls it cotton picker grease and it’s 00 viscosity so just a little thinner than the 0 corn head grease. The tsc stuff comes in a quart bottle that you can squeeze in
It pours like honey from the fridge, but it does pour. That tells me you dont end up with grease slung off the gears to the case, and they stay happily submerged in a lube.

Fill it the same as you would if you were filling it with regular gear lube or slightly over. Corn head grease when warm is like a thick gear lube. Did the gear box fail because the bearings ran dry? Just curious. Corn head grease is rated as a NLGI "0" where most will be a NLGI "2". The corn head grease will eventually run out of the tube if laid on it's side.
Unfortunately, I purchased this tiller used and my desire to own the tiller overcame better judgment in that there were problems. When I checked the tiller gearbox, it had no oil in it and it showed evidence of leaking. the final drive gear system showed signs of leaking and it was also dry, but I attributed it to seals leaking and something that I could fix, which was true on both areas. I replaced the seal on the final drive system and all the gears were in good shape no issues at all and long story short. I replaced the seal on the gearbox, but there were still issues when I would engage the PTO so I remove the back cover from the gearbox and ball bearings fell out and there was evidence that it had been run a lengthy time with those ball bearings and the bearing failure. I’m going to make a document on how I did the repair because I searched the Internet, YouTube And this forum and could find no one that had actually done this job before and so I’m going to try to help someone in the future with at least how I did it. But the bearings in the gearbox both the inboard and outboard bearings were failed due to the previous owner Running it unlubricated So I should wind up with a good 80 inch tiller, which was what I wanted after I fill the gearbox with this corn head grease and give it a try. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and comments. I really enjoy this forum because everyone is helpful so I’m gonna try to Provide some input on my repair experience for others.
