I'm trying to grow a few cool weather vegetables for the 1st time this winter & I gotta profess my ignorance - - how cold can spinach & broccoli take it? We are predicted to be in the mid-20痴 for a couple of nights later this week. I don稚 have much growing, but I壇 like to go ahead & bring it in if the freeze is going to zap it.

Thanks, Jack

my established letticue did ok for a 20deg f frost over night this fall before i harvested the last of it and brought a few plants of it inside.

IF nothing else you can toss a blanket or plastic over it for increased protection expecially for just an overnight frost. (for instance if expecting 40deg temps durring the day)

I've got Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Onions, Cabbage and Red Potatoes growing now. They are calling for upper 20's later this week. I will probably have to cover the Potatoes but I think everything else will be OK. I live two miles from the St. Johns River and when they call for cold temps I don't always get the worst. Cold temps can varry 10* from the beach to 30 miles inland.
Every spring my local paper puts out an anual growing guide that lists plants by month best to plant. You might try google, a lot of the universities put out a lot of grow info.
