Preparing fields for seeds and transplants

/ Preparing fields for seeds and transplants #21
You need to start by determining the condition of the soil. How deep is the topsoil? If it's less than 6 inches, forget about the moldboard plow since you'll just be flipping the soil and burying the good stuff. Use an offset disc (one with two axles arranged in a "V" configuration for primary tillage) with enough extra weight to get 3 to 4 inches penetration. Make at least two passes over the field in different directions. Attach some type of heavy drag to your disc to break up the clods.

Good luck
