The north rim is closed this time of year but I’ve heard it’s the best.

The area I'm referring to is reached via 90 miles of dirt road, heading south from the St George, Utah area. High clearance 4x4 required. This area is never closed - but it should only be driven late April till the first snows in late fall due to mud and snow.

If you want to see spectacular views of the Grand Canyon you should come in from the Utah side, where you can drive to the very edge of the canyon and look down on the river. Used to be a sign here warning people to mind their kids and dogs because the river is 3,500 feet directly below! If you look closely at this pic at Toroweap Point you can see a series of rafts going down the river.

Drive down Whitmore Canyon and the road ends just above the river. A short hike and you can be at the river itself.

First time I saw it in the 60s my grandfather said "Here's where the Scotsman lost his dime. Well...let's go!"

That's some talent there, that took some man hours to complete.

Impressive, I would like to have seen some "work in progress" pics and the tree before he started.

I wonder if that horse has implants or if those legs are natural.

I guess it doesn't matter, the jockey is riding it anyway.
