Wife and I found this impressive grape vine on a hike over the weekend. I thought it was a small tree growing out of the roots of a large oak, but I looked up and it was a grape vine. It's a good 4" in diameter, if not more.

Grapevines are unbelievably strong. One about 3" diameter I tried taking down with my tractor FEL. It lifted tractor up going forward. Finally had to just chainsaw it in two.

Finally got to mow the front yard today. It was unbelievably thick. The voles were scrambling.

With leaves not out yet here, the neighborhood squirrels venture to our bird feeders and I can get pics of them. Seems we have all colors of gray squirrels here. We have maybe 4 pure white ones among them.

The ones with the red eyes are true albinos. Somewhat rare. If they're white but still have black eyes they're called leucistic. Those aren't as rare.

Trumpeters seen on a pond. There was several bevy's of them here. I thought they sent the young away earlier than this? The size and noise of these birds can not be conveyed in my poor pics.

We've got mute swans here. They're about the size of flying Volkswagen beetles!

They stay pretty much all winter, finding just tiny pools of unfrozen waters in almost all the lakes. They make a whistling noise when they fly.
