Converting single HST pedal to two pedal setup

My previous tractor was an old gear drive with a single pedal. I read a lot of complaints about the kubota pedal so when I first got my l2501 I had all of those complaints in my mind.

I'm 97 hrs in and can say that I'm not sure what all the fuss was about. It took some time to adjust to. Like others I suggest you roll with it, it's amazing what the human body and mind can become accustomed to.

I do remember a post of someone who did this conversion, it may have been on the orange tractor forum, can't remember. Google "Treadle pedal conversion" you will get a bunch of links to look at.

This onesey, twosey pedal thing has been discussed here many times. It really comes down to personal preference and how you use your tractor.

For me, I find it's easier to work in reverse with my body turned in the seat to see what I'm doing. To do so, I just put my toe under the treddle and lift. I find it more awkward to do with the 2 pedal design.

It's all about what works best for you.

I agree with Toolguy. I preferred the two pedal system at the dealers while I was weighing Deere against Kubota. The two pedal system somehow felt more comfortable. But having put in some seat time, I wouldn't change the single pedal system now.

If you decide to alter it, best check what effect this might have on your warranty.

I've operated both systems multiple times. Like 2 pedals better.

I have less than 10 hours on my Kubota treadle pedal, and truth be told, most of it is with the cruise control engaged! It is primarily bought to mow fields, so set the cruise and sit back, I can adjust forward speed by the cruise lever without touching the pedals.

I have 700 more hours on my Massey Ferguson which is the 2 separate side by side pedals, which is my first tractor, I like that system better ... On the Kubota when I do use the pedal, I leave my heal on the floor, tried the whole foot on the treadle pedal, felt very unstable to me ... To reverse I put my toe underneath the forward pedal and lift ...

I may get use to it in time, but I'm very opinionated and stubbornly don't like change ... !

I have both types, like the treadle for loader work and really when steep nose down to control movement. as in cleaning ditches. Learning to use the brake on the other tractor for that since I can not use reverse and forward instantly. Like the 2 petal when I spend hours moving bales or gravel longer distances. Mowing it depends on terrain and obstacles, how much backing up......
To be clear I use the reverse as a live brake and to position on the treadle, on two petal I have to use brake and inch down using that to avoid going to deep and be stuck or worse.
