Considering a 2350

Hi, folks,

I have about 60 acres to mow and I'm looking at a number of older tractors. There are several 1980s era John Deere 2350s around at reasonably affordable prices. All have 5000 or more hours, and naturally they vary somewhat as to cosmetic condition. Any issues to look out for? I think 55 HP on the PTO should be plenty to run a 10 foot brush hog. Does that seem reasonable to you all?

Any info would be appreciated.

50 & 55 series utility tractors are some of JD's best of the Mannheim built tractors. Check for wear on clutch ,drawbar & 3 pt balls as these things indicate hrs of use. Check hyd's for correct operation with no undue heat. I'd suggest to perform a coolant & oil scan. Does the tractor have hyd ind pto & hi-lo?

Thanks for the reply. The tractor I'm most interested in has the two range transmission with 8 forward and 4 reverse speeds. It has a new clutch, as well as a new injector pump and injectors. Does hyd ind pto and hi-lo mean hydraulic indirect? I don't know the answer to that question. It has about 7500 hours on the meter. It runs smoothly and doesn't smoke, and all the gears work easily.

i had a 2355 years ago it had minor repairs until i traded it on a cab tractor.it should be plenty for 60 acres.

Hyd hi-lo will have a handle on LH side of dash under steering wheel. Hyd ind pto will have a control handle between the 2 gearshift levers.
