Concrete Walk Cost

I need to pour new concrete around my pool area. The concrete that is there now is in perfect condition and I plan to have it reinstalled the same way. I'm just wondering if someone can give me some ballpark pricing for the concrete around a pool.

Total Concrete = 4'x128' = 512 square feet.

I poured the last concrete 5" thick with rebar spaced every 12" in both direction. 4500psi air entrained mix.

This held up great but I need to rip it out to repair the walls after an installer screwed up the liner replacement.

Just wondering what 2010 pricing would look like. Any ideas?

$5 to $6 a square foot in my area for a contractor to do it.

5" seems very thick unless you have vehicles on it.

At 3" thick you would need 4.74 yards of concrete costing around $500. For a pedestrian walkway I would think wire mesh would add plenty of strength.

Sounds way over engineered. Is there some reason for all the strength? Can any of the existing be saw cut to allow repairs wihout total replacement?

Definitely way over engineered but I did not want to have any problems with the concrete. In this area many of the pools have problems with severe cracks and settling. I'm not sure why, my guess is poor installation to begin with. When I originally installed the pool it only cost $400 extra for all the rebar, and 5" depth so it seemed worth it to not risk having a problem.

I figured even if the ground settled beneath the concrete, the concrete wasn't going to move.
