I just got a concrete deer for free. It was free because the head broke off. I can set it back on and it will stay as long as the wind doesn’t blow and no one touches it. Is there any kind of glue that will work on concrete? My wife had a fit when I suggested duct tape!

My wife has a concrete duck (about 24" high). It got knocked over (by guess who /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif) and the head broke off at the neck so I had to fix it.

I ended up drilling a hole up into the head/neck and down into the head/body and setting it back together with a piece of re-bar epoxied into the hole and epoxy at the break.

I drilled the hole over-size to make sure the pieces would align.

Worked fine.

Hey Danny, just tell the wife that the duct tape is a radio locater collar. The department of conservation is trying to learn the breeding habits of this particular species of deer. They seem to be quite prolific as they have been spotted all over the country! They are worried they might become a pest animal! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Remember were all in this together and were pulling for you! If the women don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I have a couple of concrete calves - one has a ear problem - checked the local statuary vendor and he recommended the hole, a pin of some type and epoxy solution already mentioned, but added that you need to seal up the seam or moisture will get between the pieces and if it should drop down below freezing the part will seperate again, he recommended some sloppy concrete and then repaint to seal the seam. I have a lot of fun with my calves by moving them around the yard with the tractor. When I first got them one of the neighbor's kids tryed sneaking up on them. Didn't realize they weren't real until she was about 20 feet away. Right now they are painted as Holstens, son was a dairy science major, think about changing my direction to beef now that he has changed to Chemistry.

I glued a concrete birdbath stand back together after it broke clean in half.

I didn't use a dowel or anything and this was years ago. Still so strong I can carry it by the top half and not looking like breaking !!

Now for the catch. I can't remeber what I used. Was either Selleys Liquid Nails (A constructon adhesive) or a concrete glue bought in a small tube like toothpaste.

Even have a sneaking suspicion the glue was the same smell etc. as liquid nails.

Check out the hardware store.

Cheers

Why would you want a headless concrete deer? Just stop and think about bringing a headless concrete deer home. Kinda makes you grin doesn't it. I'll be right in sweet heart just give me a minute to get my headless concrete deer out of the truck.
