Just wondering what people are paying for concrete? I'm in NE WI, looking to get $2.45-$2.80 sq. ft for 4" of 4000 psi 6 bag mix concrete, 1/2" rebar in 3'x3' grid, rebar doweled to existing foundation , broom finish, concrete sealer, saw cut joints. I know prices will vary with area, but wondering if this is in the "ball park"

a small project in Houston will run you closer to $8 - $10 sq ft.....paying for concrete work is like paying for land ... the more you buy the less it is per unit of measure.

I'd say that for under $3 a foot, you are getting a pretty good price. I'd put the rebar on 2ft centers, not 3ft. I've never heard of thee foot centers and would think that it was too far apart. I know that in some areas with more extreme weather, like Florida, code is 1ft.

Buy the extra rebar, it's probably less then $100 depending on how big your pour is. You will never regret having too much rebar, but you will always regret it if your pad starts to crack on you. Even if you get a garantee, most of those guys never show up again anyway.

They are asking for an additonal $0.20/sq. ft for 2x2 rebar spacing. I'm waiting on another quote and then maybe ask the guy I was going to go with if he can do the 2x2 for an additional $0.10 sq/ft. That will come to about $250 more than the original bid. I'm guessing the 3' spacing would be fine for the walk areas?

Oh yeah the poor is about 2100 sq. ft driveway and another 500 sq.ft of sidewalk, hopefully the job is big enough that it's worth their while to nock a little of the adder they gave me for the extra rebar

When we poured our slab patio last summer, we paid $88 a yard, 5 1/2 bag mix, finish sand. Finishing was extra... with the concrete and finishers, we paid nearly $2000 for a 9 yard pour. Plus all the work I did myself with the setup.

Concrete isn't cheap!!

I paid the finisher $.90 Sqft. hand troweled and the mud cost $84 a yard and I did 2000 sqft. all the rebar and forming prep work I did myself for the slab (basement floor). I used close to a 100 yds in the whole basement foundation project a probably have $20,000 in ICF forms and steel beams and pipe columns and rebar. This was to set a doublewide manufactured home (27 x 68) on a full basement with a 15' x 20' bumpout for a stairwell. The homes on the basement and being occupied now to finish out the basement. bjr
