Compression Tester Not Working

Hi All,

Got a bit of a dome scratcher. I have a basic compression tester that has always worked well on my briggs/techumseh rebuilds, but went to use it this morning and it won't read at all. Then I tried it on my Stihl MS 250 saw and it immediately started to read when I pulled the cord. I tried it on several small engines and it just won't read. Never had that problem before. I did change the needle valve in the line, but still no readings. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Buy a new one... Not expensive.

Seems like that I read somewhere, that the needle valve is specific for compression testers.........not your ordinary tire valve needle gizmo.

do those engines have a decompression valve? dont know if that would make a difference but maybe.
