Anyone have a clever idea for coding the hydaulic lines for quick attach FEL's. The new b7500 I have is coded with dabs of paint but this seems like its going to wear off quickly. Any other ideas you guys have?

My B2710 lines are coded with just a dap of paint, too. It's lasted 2 years all right, but I've been thinking about using colored plastic tape that would wrap all the way around and be sticking to itself. Just haven't done it yet.

How about colored wire cable ties?

I used color coded duct tape on the lines and also on the control box. Another idea I am considering is that my 445 has colored hose/connector rubber caps on its lines. Maybe I'll just order a set from the JD dealer for my B2410.

I used colored wire tie raps on all hoses and valve disconnects./w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

I used a center punch to make from 1 to 4 dots on the FEL bracket holding the lines and then made the corresponding dots on the controler.

You can try doing what JD has been doing for a few years...

Plastic Color coded hydraulic male/female caps/receptacles...

I'd try a picture tomorrow...right now it's a little dark.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Couplers on John Deere 4000 series
The tractor-mounted hydraulic outlets are female quick couplers numbered and color coded easy hookup. Decal (A) identifies the couplers: 1 (yellow), 2 (red), 3 (black), and 4 (green).

Attachment hydraulic hoses are also color coded. Match the color coded hose ends to the color coded hydraulic couplers on tractor when making connections.

My tractor side couplers were nicely color banded but the FEL side was not so hot. I put on colored wire ties to match the tractor side and all is well /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Jim,

I'm waiting for JD to call back on a price and availability for a 176 lb. front weight bracket... he did say it takes 4 bolts about 1' long @ $12.xx EACH... nice... /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Anyhow, I asked about the JD color coded hydraulic caps... they are on a rack {no part number...} and cost is $3.25 set [male/female couplers} in lots of different colors... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Or a Miller method is to use color coded cable/spot ties for only pennies each... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Well, I tried the different colored plastic tape I had on hand; wouldn't stick worth a hoot. But yesterday I was in both Home Depot and Tractor Supply Co. and found they both have packages of colored wire ties (my tractor color coding is white, yellow, blue, and red); however I decided to try something different. If you color code them, you still have to match colors, and besides, I had lots of little white wire ties on hand, so I decided to try numbering the connections on the valve (left to right and top to bottom in the normal manner without actually marking them in any way), then put 1, 2, 3, and 4 wire ties on the 4 hoses, so I don't have to even look at the colors on the valve or hoses either. I snapped a picture of them, and I'll see how this works; believe I could hook them up with my eyes closed./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

What a great idea! I suppose you could also put the corresponding number of ties on the valve too.

Yeah, I could, but I think I can remember upper left is #1, etc. for little while longer, but the way my memory's going . . . who knows?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'd probably have trouble remembering which valve I started numbering with. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif Maybe just put a tie on the number 1 valve? Too often I've not labeled something, after saying to myself, "That's logical. I'll remember that."......not

Did basically the same thing as you, but yours is alot neater.

I used pieces of string - one loop on hose #1, two loops on #2, etc.

I did this after hooking my front mount snowblower back up this year - the lines on the blower were not color coded and I probably spent a half hour getting them hooked up to the proper connections.

Was going to try refreshing the painted color dabs that were on them when the tractor was new, but figured that would just wear off again. Was also going to try sticking something on, but, like you state, knew that wouldn't last too long.

I like those color coded end caps; would be a nice clean solution.
