I own a new ck30hst and was wondering what other Kioti owners use to start their tractors in extremly cold weather. I use a synthetic 5w30 and the machine is in a barn.

Mine is sitting outside but I plug in a block heater for a few hours before I intend to start it. It was a bit sluggish starting this morning (7 degrees). I worked it all day and moved lots of snow & ice. I shut if off for a couple of hours in the driveway and surprisingly found it very hard to restart. I used the pre-heater three times before it caught. Thought I was going to have to pull out that spare battery but thankfully, no.

I have been parking my CK30 outside in an open shed. About 8* this morning. I cycled the glow plugs twice, it fired right up, ran a little rough for about 30 seconds then fine. No heater, regular oil.

I park my CK30 in an open ended carport. Yesterday morning was the first time I've used the tractor all winter 
after we received 8" of snow overnight. I cycled the glow plugs twice, turned the key and she fired right up like it was 60 degrees out. No cough, no sputter. I did add four ounces of 'power service' to the gas tank last time I filled 'er up...about three months ago.

Since buying the plow truck, my CK20 has been sitting for about 2 months now and today I needed to push back the mountains of snow from our 16" snowstorm. It was 7 degrees F so I cycled the glow plugs once, and cranked it over. It started but was a little sluggish, idling about 500 rpms. My trick is I push in the clutch and use the little clip that holds the clutch pedal in and then I turn the key to the glow plugs again and hold it there for a couple of seconds until the rpms go up to normal, since the engine is running you are not draining the battery, the alternator is powering them. It works like a charm, no heaters and only one cycle of the glow plugs. The tractor is stored in a open end carport.

I use Power Service year round, keep the tractor in a pole barn, and also cycle the glow plugs twice. This morning it was about 7 degrees, started right up but I do let it warm up for at least 10 minutes or more.

My ck30 is usually parked in my barn and I plug in the block heater when I anticipate user it in anything below 25*. If I plug it in for 2-3 hrs it starts right up, but runs a tad ragged for 30 seconds or so. I also usually cycle the glow plugs twice before cranking it over. Last night I plugged it in because I knew I'd need to move some serious snow today and temps in low single digits. With the heater plugged in overnight it started like it was 65 out. I also use Power Service cold weather variety this time of year on every tankful.

\Just a reply to all intrested parties.I went to the cabin on Saturday the temp, was `-3 deg.I recycled the glo plugs once turned the key and the tractor started on the first try.I wish I had bought this tractor years ago.

Just a quick note for you guys turning your glow plugs on a couple times before you start it in the cold weather. It is not really needed. Are you aware of the manuel glow plug engagement?
Try this...
Turn your key slowly to just before the starter engages. You will see the glow plug light come on again. This is the manuel engagement postition. If it is cold enough that the regular cycle is not long enough you can do a couple things. One you can turn them on longer before startup manuelly. OR two you can turn them on after startup to improve and smooth out the idle.
