My 650 g sure doesnt like to start when its cold. It also doesnt like to start when it hasnt ran for 3-4 days. I have replaced the battery, rebuilt the carb, put on new wires, plugs, condensor. I was thinking about a block heater or a dipstick heater. any opinions???

My Satoh Beaver S 370 is the same, not a cold favouring little thing. I just invested in that sure start slow charge gadget that keeps it on a low charge, I just plug it up in the morning when it is cold and I am going to be dragging the pastures or something. Some motorcycle shops sell them for under $30.

I am wondering if your choke is closing completly. It sounds like it isn't getting enough gas.

If your still thinking about a block heater. I found that an inline lower hose heater worked for me. Bought it at Advance Auto but I'm sure others sell them too. Just drained the radiator, cut the lower hose and installed the heater, refilled and bled out the air. Took about a half hour to install. faster than putting in a block heater and probably cheaper too. Keeps the water and engine about 140 degrees and makes for easy starts.

I'm sure you've changed the "points" at some point... I found that difficult winter starting disappeared after changing them. Noticed an increase in performance too.

I used to pre-heat the engine, but now starts within a half dozen seconds even after sitting idle for weeks.
